May 2, 2019

Konkola Copper Mines (KCM) has been awarded by the Ministry of Health for being the Most Consistent in supporting Malaria elimination activities at district level.

The award was presented to the company today by Minister of Health Dr. Chitalu Chilufya during this year’s national World Malaria Day commemorations in Lufwanyama District on the Copperbelt.

KCM Community Medicine Manager Dr. Janet Sikasote commented on the award saying, “This is an acknowledgement, from the Ministry of Health; of the effort and commitment KCM has put into the malaria control programme and means a lot to us. To be appreciated and recognized is very encouraging and provides impetus for continued support of the programme.”

KCM has made numerous efforts in the fight against Malaria by running several campaigns among them the Roll Back Malaria where Indoor Residue Spraying (IRS) has reduced Malaria incidences and more than 40,000 households are sprayed annually.
