Management provides safety tips

August 19, 2015

Senior executives have provided safety tips to employees across the business.

Chief Executive Officer Steven Din and Chief Operating Officer Mark Adams told safety champions to continue promoting a safety culture that ensures all employees return home without injury.

“It is very important that we have managed to reduce accidents, but there is still a lot that we need to do to improve our safety performance,” Mr Din said. Since taking over as CEO at KCM in 2014, Mr Din has placed safety of all employees and visitors to KCM as the top priority.

Mr Adams said all employees were expected to adhere to safety standards.

“No job is so important that it can’t be done in a safe way. I am giving you authority that when it is not safe, do not do it.”

The senior executives were speaking when some employees were given monetary rewards and certificates of accomplishment for helping to change the safety culture in KCM.

About 120 KCM employees recently took part in the Chachilamo “enough is enough” safety project. The initiative was taken in order to enhance awareness and improve safety compliance across the business.
