Konkola Copper Mines Launches Employee Wellness Programme

Konkola Copper Mines (KCM) has officially launched its Employee Wellness Programme,
aimed at promoting holistic health, personal responsibility, and an improved quality of life for all employees.

Speaking during the launch held on Tuesday, 29th July 2025, at on Nchanga Wellness Centre in Chingola, KCM Chief Operations Officer Mr. Malcolm Mewett reaffirmed the company’s commitment to employee health and safety, noting it as a top priority.

“The health and well-being of our workforce are central to the success of KCM.
We need you to be healthy in order to help the company realise its vision. That
is why we are implementing wellness programmes that promote the health of
our employees,” Mr. Mewett said.

He urged employees across the organisation to embrace healthier lifestyles through regular physical activity and nutritious diets.

The newly launched programme features a wide array of initiatives including regular on-
site health screenings, aerobics and fitness sessions, mental health and stress management services, nutrition education, and lifestyle coaching. Beginning in August, the programme will also introduce Men’s Health Clinics, in addition to ongoing support aimed at reducing alcohol and tobacco use.

KCM Vice President Human Capital, Ms. Prudence Chisakuta, highlighted the broader impact of the initiative beyond physical health.
