KCM Partners With Arise In Purpose Women Network To Empower Youths In Nampundwe

November 5, 2025

Konkola Copper Mines (KCM) has reaffirmed its dedication to empowering the communities through a strategic partnership with the Arise In Purpose Women Network. This collaboration seeks to equip young people in Nampundwe with practical and creative skills that inspire innovation, promote self-reliance, and encourage entrepreneurship. Held under the theme “Discovering Self, Building Creativity, and Unlocking Skills,” the
initiative brought together 60 youths aged 18 and above for a comprehensive program
focused on self-discovery, character development, and creative skill-building.

The training is designed to help participants identify their strengths, embrace individuality,
and understand their life’s purpose. Through interactive sessions, the youths were
encouraged to recognize their talents, set personal goals, and visualize their aspirations by
creating vision boards.

A key highlight of the program was the Teenage Mentorship Ideals session which guided
participants in making positive life choices. It focused on nurturing boys into responsible
men and empowering girls to grow into women of virtue and value. The Building Character
module further emphasized discipline, confidence, resilience and essential qualities for
leadership and long-term success.

Beyond personal growth, the initiative incorporated practical, hands-on training designed
to promote entrepreneurship. Participants developed creative skills in balloon decor, gift
wrapping, flower bouquets, traditional decor (Chilanga Mulilo), and event table setup skills
that can be applied to generate income and support self-employment.

The program also featured a mentorship component led by Theresa Lyainga, a renowned
content creator who trains young people in soft skills such as teamwork, communication,
professionalism, and content creation.

One participant, Aramy Ngulube, expressed heartfelt appreciation for the training, saying:
“I never imagined I could turn something as simple as balloon de cor into a
business idea. This training has opened my eyes to new possibilities.”

Through this initiative, KCM and its partners have demonstrated the transformative power
of collaboration in shaping young lives. By investing in mentorship and practical skills
development, they are helping the youth of Nampundwe discover their purpose, nurture
their creativity, and unlock pathways to a brighter, self-sustaining future.

Building on the success of this program, KCM will replicate the initiative across all four of its operational areas, extending its impact and creating lasting change in communities.
