
Mr. Akhilesh Joshi is an Independent Director of Konkola Copper Mines and brings more than 40 years of experience across the mining industry. He has an exemplary track record in nurturing one of the world’s largest integrated zinc, lead and silver producing organisations, with a strong focus on high-performance culture, strategic execution and delivery.
He is a former President of the Global Zinc Business, where he drove synergies across Indian and overseas operations and played an instrumental role in the Gamsberg project in South Africa, including mine sequence optimisation. His international experience includes due diligence assignments involving Century Mine, Australia, benchmarking visits to mines across Australia, Canada and France, and participation in the Asian Mining Congress 2005 in Singapore. From 2004 to 2006, he provided guidance to gold mines in Armenia and worked with SRK, AMC and others on benchmarking and mining methodology evaluations.
Akhilesh is also a Director of Wolkem India Ltd and Wolkem Industries Ltd, Chairman and Non-Executive Director of Ferro Alloys Corporation Ltd, and Non-Executive Independent Director of Hindustan Zinc Ltd.
He is a Fellow Member of The Institution of Engineers (India) and a Life Member of MEAI, MGMI and IIME. He holds a B.E. in Mining from MBM Engineering College, Jodhpur, a First-Class Mining Manager Certificate of Competency under MMR 1961 (UN restricted), and a Diploma from Paris School of Mines in Economic Evaluation of Mining Projects.
